Health Executive Article Wins Prestigious Eddie Award PDF Print E-mail

Beverly, Mass., October 9, 2007 — The cover story of Health Executive’s April issue has won a coveted silver Eddie award from FOLIO: magazine. The article, “Finding Camelot,” was written by Michael Sharkey, managing editor of Health Executive and American Executive magazines. Read the full story.

The article tells the story of Goshen Health System, located in Goshen, Ind. In 1995, the hospital system had only three weeks of cash in the bank and a turnover rate of 27%. Today, thanks to a process improvement program developed by organization revitalization expert Clay Sherman, Goshen Health System has a turnover rate of less than 4% and consistently operates in the black while being the lowest cost provider in the region.

At an awards ceremony on September 23rd in New York City, Mr. Sharkey’s article won the silver Eddie award for editorial excellence. The award gala kicked off this year’s FOLIO: Show, a national event for magazine professionals.

This year’s competition drew almost 3,000 entries from all categories of magazines, making the Eddies and Ozzies (design awards) the largest and most inclusive competition in the industry. The competition was judged by a panel of more than 100 editors, publishers, creative directors, webmasters, and consultants. The Health Executive article won in the single-article category for healthcare business-to-business publications.
