Chicago (July 31, 2007) – Schofield Media Group LLC, a publisher of business-to-business magazines and related Web and conference products, is ranked No. 83 on Entrepreneur Magazine’s “Hot 500” list of the fastest-growing American businesses. This is the first time the eight-year-old Schofield Media has made the prestigious list.
Company founder and CEO Andrew J. Schofield, 36, told Entrepreneur Magazine that he credits “focus, hard work and calculated risk-taking” for his company’s fast growth. “Top of the list,” he added, “is the team of people that I have built around me that operate the business.”
Schofield founded the company in 1999 with an initial investment of $200,000 and a staff of 10 employees. The company reached $40 million in sales in 2006 and today employs more than 300 people at its five divisions: Schofield Media Chicago, Schofield Publishing UK, RedCoat Publishing, Ideal Media and Schofield Healthcare Media.
“Hot 500” companies must meet strict criteria regarding sales and job growth. Working with the Corporate Research Board, Entrepreneur Magazine narrows the list from an initial database of 19 million companies to 95,000 that meet the list’s criteria, and finally to the final “500.” The list appears in the magazine’s August 2007 issue.
