CHICAGO, IL (May 18, 2005) – Ideal Media announced today that Scott Allmendinger has been named vice president/group publisher of Ideal Media's foodservice titles. The titles include Restaurant Business, FoodService Director and ID Access. A seasoned foodservice professional, Mr. Allmendinger has been in the industry for over 33 years, 16 of them in foodservice operations. "I am delighted to welcome back a highly respected leader like Scott to drive Ideal Media's foodservice titles," said Julian Taylor, president, Ideal Media. Allmendinger began his media career in 1987 with Restaurant Business (formerly owned by VNU, Inc.) where he served as associate publisher and editorial director. During his eight-year tenure at Restaurant Business, the magazine was awarded its first-ever Jesse H. Neal Award for editorial excellence, followed by five additional Neal citations. In addition, the magazine was named Best Foodservice Publication by Folio Magazine three consecutive years. "This is an exciting time to be rejoining these titles," said Allmendinger. After several years as president of three trade magazines in seafood and commercial marine at Diversified Communications, Allmendinger returned to VNU, Inc. in 1999 as vice president, business development. His responsibilities included growing non-traditional media products in the food, beverage and retail industries. Most recently, Allmendinger was senior director for the Industry Solutions Group at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, and Napa Valley. Prior to that, he served as chief sales & marketing officer at Gofish.com, an online publication and commercial trading exchange for the seafood industry.
