Schofield Media, publisher of international business magazines, is once again concentrating its energies towards the UK arm of its global operation, with the appointment of five new members of staff, plus the return to the UK of the research director Philip Monument. He has spent the last six months working in Schofield's Chicago office. Four of the new appointments, Mike Tulloch [Sales Director], David Garner [Advertising Director - Venture], Libbie Hammond [Editor] and Fiona Duale [Studio Designer] all have a wealth of experience in the business magazine publishing arena, possessing as they do a combined experience of nearly two decades at East Anglia's rival magazine publishers, Conquest Business Media (CBM). The fifth new member of staff, Paul Barrett has been recruited from The Point Agency in Norwich. Andrew Schofield, Schofield Media chief executive, and former co-founder of CBM, commented: "We downsized our UK operation in our last financial year in order to focus our investment in the development of our titles in North America, Europe and Australia. Now that these are running very successfully, I feel it is time to bring some new blood to our already solid UK team, in order to increase our magazine's recognition throughout Great Britain and Europe." The dynamic new team aims to increase the circulation and profitability of Schofield's current UK magazines Food Chain and Venture, with a view to releasing three new titles within a year. This means the company is actively recruiting and has another 16-20 vacancies to fill. Schofield continued: "All of our new employees have essential knowledge and experience of this business that will enhance the magazines content and credibility in the marketplace. I feel confident that the UK arm of Schofield Media will soon be leading the way in business magazine publishing across Europe." Mike Tulloch, Sales Director, said of his new position: "My new role will be a challenge, but I feel confident that I have a great team around me and that I can play a key part in bringing the UK arm of Schofields in line with the rest of its very successful global operations." Staff Details: MIKE TULLOCH Tulloch has over five years experience in the publishing industry. This began at CBM as a telesales person, where he rose quickly through the ranks to become sales director, shareholder and board member. He then crossed the Atlantic to start the US operation, where he was CEO. DAVID GARNER David Garner brings four and half years experience at CBM to Schofield's sales team. Tulloch commented: "David Garner has exactly the skills I need in a right hand man - I am confident that together we can unite the sales team here into a very efficient and cohesive unit." PHILIP MONUMENT Philip Monument has recently returned to the UK having spent six months secondment in Chicago as global vice president, enlarging the American operations and strengthening the sales support network. He will remain temporarily in the UK to work with Mike Tulloch and David Garner as they remodel the UK business, before he takes up his new role as one of the European Business Directors in the Brussels office. Monument also started with his career at Conquest Business Media. He moved up the career ladder to senior researcher, before moving to Schofield Publishing where he was instrumental in developing the research team as manager and later as director of research. He concurrently trained employees for and support the growth of the US and later the Australian wings of the company. LIBBIE HAMMOND On the editorial side, Libbie Hammond spent almost five years in the editorial department of CBM, which should come in useful as she takes up her new role as Editor of Schofield's magazines current UK publications, Food Chain and Venture. She began at CBM back in 1997 as an editorial assistant, and in her time there moved up the career ladder as deputy editor, photo researcher, writer, proof-reader and finally sub-editor on all titles. She was instrumental in the creation and running of its website and also travelled to the US where she played a pivotal role in the creation of the editorial department of the American side of the business. Of her appointment, Andrew Schofield commented: "I am very happy to have a woman of Libbie's skills as the Editor. She has an extensive knowledge of all aspects of the editorial department and I am confident the magazines will benefit from her experience." FIONA DUALE With nearly four years experience in the CBM design studio, Fiona Duale joins Schofield Publishing with a solid background in magazine advertising. Appointed by Conquest to scan images, her talents soon moved her swiftly through the ranks, becoming house photographer and finally the sole advertising designer on The Manufacturer, CBM's leading publication. Of Duale's appointment, Schofield and Tulloch both agreed: "As an advertising designer, Fiona's efficiency and skill with design software can only strengthen our already talented design team and enhance the appearance of our magazines," said Tulloch. ###
